"Dr. Ramani is the Rilke of mental health, the Picasso of the psychology world. Her work - like her life - while planted firmly in the most fertile academic and scientific training available, has been cultivated by her own hands, with real life experience, and in her own refined way. Indeed, she is self-made through and through. But she's done more for herself and does more for her patients than just roll up her sleeves and get dirty. No!. She exercises the cunning, creative license and ineffable artistic flair of an expert horticulturist - one that was born before her time. What she does with psychology is what Picasso did with paint, what Rilke did with reason. To call her a psychologist is to call Picasso simply a painter or Rilke just a poet.
"With Ramani on your side and in your life, you will come to see and feel that: "Everything [in your life] is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night." Ramani is the princess of a new popular psychology, the reigning queen of compassionate care, and the elected empress of empirically-based empathy and authenticity. She teaches all of us that "the dragons in our lives are actually princesses who are only waiting to see us once beautiful and brave." All hail the beautiful and the brave - like Dr. Ramani - and, most importantly, the princes and princesses in your own lives!"
Everyone thinks that in order to have a successful weight loss plan the only tools you need are sensible diet and exercise. Those two components are a big part, but if you can't get to the emotional root of why you eat the bad food you do, the triggers for those foods will remain in place and you will have only a weight loss "diet"plan, not a lifestyle change.
With Thintervention, the part that challenged me the most were not Jackie's workouts, but the work done on the couch in Dr. Ramani's office. She put me through my emotional paces, and made me look at myself, and my issues with not only a focused eye, but compassion as well.
When I had tried to lose weight in the past, I went to a place of self bullying, because I believed (as many do) that you have to be extremely hard on yourself to see results. With Ramani, I felt safe to challenge myself in a way that I had never done before. She understood me not only as a client dealing with real issues, but connected to me as a young woman and gave me permission, (and demanded) that I be kind with myself.
Thanks to Dr. Ramani, I have learned how to be present and make my weight loss a permanent change. I would recommend her to anyone, even if it's not about weight loss because she's THAT good.

Dr Ramani was instrumental to my success in not only getting back to a healthy weight, but completely shifting my approach to food addiction, and compulsive self sabotage in general. Her approach is incredibly empathetic, insightful, honest, and in fact a complete 180 from the prevailing ideology around weigh control which focuses mostly on food intake and exercise.
With her help and guidance, I was able to understand my triggers and more importantly, their origins. At the end of the day she help me see clearly that my path to a healthy and confident lifestyle had nothing to do with how much I ate or worked out, and everything to do with my relationship, respect, and love for myself. Unlocking that key insight led me to succesfully understand that my mind, body, and soul are not mutually exclusive entitities. I will forever be indebted to Dr Ramani for her wisdom, approach, and commitment to helping me realize my potential and discover that a sustainable path to happiness is not only possible, but now a complete reality for me.

Dear Dr. Ramani,
I wanted to let you know how much your compassion, knowledge and communication skills helped me through the Thintervention program. Your true concern for finding what our hidden demons or past issues truly helped me to succeed on the program. The math of calories in and calories burned was easy but the homework you gave us during each therapy helped me to delve into the past to see what I needed to heal. Thank you so much for your help in changing my perception of who I am. I went from being proud of how much I could eat to being proud of making time to care for myself and that is a big transition when you have 5 children. I enjoyed seeing your smiling and very supportive face each week and it helped me to be strong on the program.
With deep appreciation, Mandy
